Hope everybody had wonderful days this week. Today I am neither writing about my collection nor my look. I just want to share some of our traditional values that are believed and are still practice way long. Actually, Shrawan the forth month of Nepali calendar is all about Lord Shiva, Fasting, ladies in green and red attire, full of jewelries, bangals, mehendi (heena, on the hand). The important month for all the Hindu women, whole day fasting and praying for long, prosperous and healthy life of their family and husband.

It is believed that the month of Shrawan is very dear to Lord Shiva. People observe fast on every Monday of shrawan month "Shrawan sombar" and worship Lord Shiva with enthusiasm and faith. According to the ancient belief, those who perform monday fasting is blessed with happiness and all the pleasures of the world. Her all the desires are fulfilled. Donation and charity made on this day gives fruits equivalent to that you have given.
People have their own purpose to observe this fast. Some observe it for long life, happy married life or for happiness and prosperity of children. "Shrawan Sombar" Fast provides wealth, luxury and increase in generation.
Ladies dressed well in red and green goes very early to the temples of Lord Shiva and perform their rituals, all 4-5 Monday of the month. The most crowd of women is seen in Pashupatinath of Kathmandu, among one of the heritage site of Nepal listed in world heritage by UNESCO.
Scientific Significance
Some medical practitioners believe that fasting during the month of Shrawan is good for health. When the rains start pelting, sunlight is scare and this slows down the digestive system. It is good to eat food that is very easy to digest. That is why, many Hindus follow a strict vegetarian diet during the month of Shrawan. Fasting also has detoxifying effect on the digestive system. This is a natural protection against water borne diseases that are common during this period of the year.
Honestly, I have never fasted because I am a foodie, all I need is food, but probably I need to fast this time because I have put on some weight hahahahhaha..... that was just a joke any way.
