SAREE

Hello readers,

February 2018 was really hard time for me, my brother had an accident and was in the hospital for a month hence couldn't concentrate on my blogs. He is getting better and back home now so I am here...

Since life is full of ups and downs, I always find ways to remain and make people happy.

I recently attained wedding of my best friend, a simple wedding with all the Newar rituals.

I wish happy married life to my friend Groom Bigen and Bride Arunima, love much <3 <3 <3

It always feels good when you are in traditional outfit.  Sari, Kurtis, lehengas etc are perfect for you to flaunt during wedding, receptions and also followed by the western outfit. I decided to be in sari that day.

The sari for me is nostalgia, fashion, heritage, drape, identity and many such linkages. And of course, a garment of choice. It’s been a part of my growing up which takes me back to my childhood memories of role playing with my cousins, dressing up my dolls, draping moms shawl into sari and acting the role of mom or a teacher.

The sari is probably one of the only forms of clothing which can be experimented with in so many different ways. The essence of the sari is its versatility. It can be worn on different occasions and at different times of day. It can look casual, formal and festive when worn differently. As with all the sari drapes in the past, we believe the sari must continue to adapt to reflect our current lives. This classic fashion is popular in all age group of females and its design has been changing with time.

Tamang women

As our country has diverse culture and tradition, different cultural group have different way of wearing sari with their own unique material, pattern and color combinations.

I have got picture of few of them-
Gurung women
Newar girls-Hakku patasi, cholo and patuki

Tharu women

In fact, the sari drapes we have happen to be very relevant to today’s context – whether for the sake of style, sustainability, tradition or fashion.

Here are my pictures in sari that I designed for my friend's wedding.I am wearing double colored sari- gold and black with very few pleats paired with a black sequin blouse. I believe in minimalism hence minimal makeup, sunglasses in a dazzlingly bright day and a clutch to carry my necessity.
