digital print

Namaste

The main motto I started  blogging  a year before is to share few details and info about  fashion, style, trend, industry and textiles relating to the look I am flaunting. Within this span my work has been appreciated a lot which keeps me motivating to bring out new.

Digital textile printing is described as any ink jet based method of printing colorants onto fabric. Most notably, digital textile printing is referred to when identifying either printing smaller designs onto garments (t-shirts, dresses, promotional wear; abbreviated as DTG, which stands for Direct to Garment) and printing larger designs onto large format rolls of textile.
Types of printing can be divided into:
  • Direct Print
  • Discharge Print
  • Resist Print
  • Pigment Print
  • Reactive Print
  • Acid print
  • disperse print
  • Specialty Print
Digital textile printing started in the late 1980s as a possible replacement for analog screen printing. With the development of a dye-sublimation printer in the early 1990s, it became possible to print with low energy sublimation inks and high energy disperse direct inks directly onto textile media, as opposed to print dye-sublimation inks on a transfer paper and, in a separate process using a heat press, transfer it to the fabric.

The inks used in digital printing are formulated specifically for each type of fiber (cotton, silk, polyester, nylon, etc). During the printing process, the fabric is fed through the printer using rollers and ink is applied to the surface in the form of thousands of tiny droplets. The fabric is then finished using heat and/or steam to cure the ink (some inks also require washing and drying). Digitally printed fabric will wash and wear the same as any other fabric, although with some types of ink you may see some initial fading in the first wash.
Designs can be created digitally with almost any graphic design software (Photoshop and Illustrator are the most popular). Alternatively, existing artwork or photographs can be scanned and then digitally manipulated to make a pattern.

Traditional screen printed fabrics usually appear on the market about a year after they are designed. With digital printing, it’s possible to go from the design stage to finished fabric in a matter of weeks . This allows you to take advantage of current trends, and even change prints or colors mid-season. And is kinda cheap and durable.

I have got a beautiful digital printed silk fabric which I have draped into a saree matched with bright orange  top with lapel. The whole attire I made for the reception of my sister. I personally feel difficulty to handle saree but this is way more easier to drape as well as comfy to be in for hours.Frankly I danced like hell that day but the saree was as same as it was before. I really love the material it is great to feel and comfy to wear on.
The orange top I wore also can be paired with skirts or pants, casual.
