I am here with something new, a RECYCLE Product. As pollution is really a big issues. which is deteriorating our mother Earth. There are several factors causing environmental pollution. Today I wanna discuss in one topic that is related to fashion.
Textile industry
It isahugeindustry, where fiber growing Farmers, weavers, merchandisers, designers to
consumers are interrelated. Every year the demand of textile is growing as per as the increment of population,on the same hand the craze of fashion is also growing.
As every coin has two parts, the growth of textile industry has its both negative and positive effect.
Impact of textile and clothing industries in environment.
- The pesticides that farmers use to protect textiles as they grow can harm wildlife, contaminate other products and get into the food we eat.
- The chemicals that are used to bleach and color textiles can damage the environment and peoples health.
- Old clothes that we throw away take up precious space in landfill sites, which is filling up rapidly.
- Most of the textile machinery cause noise, sound and air pollution.
- Over-usage of natural resources like plants, water, etc depletes or disturbs ecological balance.
- The working conditions in the textile and clothing industry are of sub- standard.
- Exploitation of animals often goes hand in hand with intensive farming practices that damage the environment as a whole.
Ways to reduce its effect in environment
Basically, there are a lot of textiles that are used every year and are deteriorating our environment. Therefore, to reduce the adverse effect, we need to think about recycling and up-cycling, support and promote it. This ultimately helps in reduction of textiles as we can meet up our necessity on going this process.
Most of the clothing disposed of each year is still very wearable, but it is thrown out simply because it is out of style, old or we are just tired of it . However, recycle fashion or up-cycling means we use the perfectly good textiles and rework them into up-to date style.
- First way is to use second hand clothes or fabrics, by redesigning and reworking onto it.
- Second way to recycle fabric is to use some of extras from large factory production. it is a known fact there is tons of factory leftover from production.
With the idea of recycling, I have made a bag out of my old denim pant, for spicing the look of my bag, I have stitched some stripes of black cotton and buttons. I don't have to get a new synthetic leather bag for keeping my belongings. As it is said 1000s of drops turns into an ocean. unless you change, you will not be able to change people.
It has big space I can keep anything, from my sketch book to my laptop and all my belongings |
I have got some pictures, to show how my recycle bag is perfect for my casual look. I was walking through Basantapur street,Kathmandu Durbar Square (the most happening place in K-town) for fabric sourcing, life of a designer any way.
